Setting:

Overlooking Koh Samui’s landmark Big Buddha, Ocean 11 is a blend of traditional and contemporary Thai decor. The atmosphere is intimate and charming.

Food:

Chef and owner Bernd Schillig has concocted a mouth-watering menu, augmented with daily blackboard specials. For a starter, try tuna loin with marinated artichokes, dried tomatoes, black olive tapenade or baked goat cheese with rocket salad. The main menu has traditional Thai dishes and hearty, delicious pasta. Favourites from the Western menu include pan-fried scallops on potato pancakes, with asparagus and a bacon-leek stew; or rack of lamb on potato roesti with grilled zucchini. To round off the meal, indulge in coconut creme brulee. The food here is a favourite amongst local residents and after one visit it’s easy to understand why.

The wine list is comprehensive with a well-chosen selection from some of the most popular regions of the world.

Service:

The service is personalised and attentive yet not intrusive. Each member is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations.

Price:

The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of food, service and setting. Two people should not expect to pay much more than 2,000 baht, without wine.
