Setting:

The outside is unassuming, but the interior, splashed with colourful New Orleans memorabilia, eases diners into a cosy ambience. Bourbon Street is still the only place in Bangkok serving Cajun/Creole cuisine.

Food:

Bourbon Street's varied palette of Cajun, Creole, American and Mexican cuisines offers an exciting epicurean alternative to the more usual French and Italian fares. From the starter of buffalo wings - fried and glazed with Bourbon Street's special sauce, served with blue cheese dressing - or Bar-B-Q oyster, the flavourful edge of the Cajun influence is apparent. The real highlights are the signature dishes. Jambalaya, an authentic Creole derivation of the Spanish paella, is cooked in tangy tomato sauce and Cajun spices with a generous serving of fresh prawns. Blackened redfish is cooked in a cast iron skillet and the spicy seasonings make for a tantalising taste. Bar-B-Q pork ribs, although a standard affair, is nicely marinated in homemade Cajun sauce, and the juicy, tender meat is ready to be prised from the bone with just the slightest of effort. Finish off the meal with traditional pecan pie and a scoop of lovely vanilla ice cream.
