Located in Smallville, the most popular entertainment and dining complex in Iloilo City, Amalfi Cucina Italia has classy, cool and well-appointed décor, furnishings and table settings that are not intimidating for the casual diner.
For starters, the carpaccio di manzo is a must-try; with its thin, melt-in-your-mouth slices of Angus beef in balsamic vinegar, it is simple and straightforward on the tastebuds. The trio di zuppa offers a sampling of three cream-based vegetable soups that are light and distinct yet subtle in flavour. The branzino al Arrosto (or pan-seared Chilean sea bass) is light and tender with every bite, whose richness only comes from a generous helping of black truffle cream sauce. The osso bucco é risotto alla Milanese is a rich and satisfying dish, and the tomato-based sauce of the braised beef shanks complements the saffron risotto. Grilled to perfection, the manzo alla griglia con funghi or tenderloin of beef lives up to its name. To cap off your meal, the cioccolato salami is not too sweet yet makes for an indulgent serving of truffle or fudge-like chocolate.
There is an extensive list here of selections from winemaking countries around the world. Also available are sodas, juices, liqueurs, spirits and beer on the menu, and the Amalfi iced tea is very refreshing and attractively presented in a specially bottled brew.
The service staff are very courteous, unobtrusive yet attentive. They speak English well and are knowledgeable about the menu. They also make corresponding recommendations for which wine to complement your food choices.
The prices are very reasonable for the bill of fare in this establishment.
